In Wien geboren, studierte Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer Fotografie, Philosophie und Niederländisch. Heute entwirft und produziert er Schriften, lehrt Schriftdesign, gibt Schriftdesign-Workshops, übersetzt niederländische Bücher über Typografie ins Deutsche und schreibt Artikel und Python-Skripte. Seit 2012 ist Rainer Mitglied des Glyphs-Teams und schreibt seither Tutorials und das Handbuch. Im Jahr 2014 gründete er die Foundry Schriftlabor, die heute Büros in Österreich, Portugal und Indonesien unterhält.

Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer was born in Vienna, and studied photography, philosophy and Dutch. Today, he creates and produces typefaces, teaches type design, gives type design workshops, translates Dutch books on typography into German, and writes articles and Python scripts. Rainer joined the Glyphs team in 2012, and has been writing tutorials and the handbook. In 2014, he started the foundry Schriftlabor, which today runs offices in Austria, Portugal and Indonesia.
